Dr Keren Fink

Clinical Psychologist
B.Psych (Hons). DCP/MSc

Keren is a warm and compassionate Clinical Psychologist experienced in working with a variety of presentations in children, adolescents and their families, as well as young adults. A primary focus of her clinical work is in providing specialist psychological treatment for people of all ages with eating disorders. 

 

Keren has worked extensively with adolescents and young adults across a range of mental health difficulties, providing a safe and containing space for them to explore and process their concerns as they encounter various developmental life-stages and transitions.

Keren is highly trained and experienced in Family Based Treatment (FBT), Family Systems Therapy, Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) for eating disorders and other mental health difficulties. She has been working in these areas for the past ten years in both the public health system and in her private practice.

Keren is endorsed as a Clinical Psychologist with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency.

Keren completed her Bachelor of Psychology (Honours) and Doctorate of Clinical Psychology/Masters of Science at the University of Sydney, Australia. Her doctoral thesis investigated the effects of a hospital-based family therapy admissions program for adolescents with Anorexia Nervosa.

 

Keren’s post-doctoral fellowship at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai Hospital, New York, USA explored the use of interoceptive exposure therapy in low-weight adolescent patients with Anorexia Nervosa and ARFID.

Keren has presented papers at both national and international eating disorder conferences, and published her work in peer-reviewed journals. She is a member of the Australian and New Zealand Association for Eating Disorders (ANZAED), as well as an ANZAED Credentialed Eating Disorder Clinician (CEDC).

Experience

Keren has worked at the Eating Disorders Service at the Sydney Children’s Hospital Network, where she treated young people undergoing hospital admissions and day program treatment for Anorexia Nervosa. In addition, Keren worked with patients and their families upon discharge from these programs, providing ongoing outpatient treatment in the community.

 

Keren also completed a Post-Doctoral fellowship and Assistant Professorship at the Eating and Weight Disorders Program at the Icahn School of Medicine in Mount Sinai Hospital, New York, USA. Here, Keren held a dual clinical and research position for three years, providing evidence-based outpatient and day-program treatment for children, adolescents and adults with a range of eating disorders, including Anorexia Nervosa, Bulimia Nervosa and Avoidant and Restrictive Food Intake Disorder (ARFID).

 

Keren currently works full-time at her private practice, maintaining a close working relationship with the Sydney Children’s Hospital Network.
